#6 — Don’t feel discouraged because you are slightly behind

Today I received an application from somebody who is ready to switch careers. From dentistry to UX/UI design. She goes on to explain that a lack of ideas for career paths and a poor choice of study have led to this point. Now she finally figured out what she wants to do. She is 23.

Awesome that she has the balls to switch and go for what she wants.

The problem is that we ought to have balls to do this in the first place. Why isn’t it normal and encouraged to try a bunch of things. Who the hell does know what he wants to do at 16, let alone the right study, enroll in the perfect internship and land his dream job.We tend to down talk ourselves because we’re not as far yet in life as your friends. A career in full swing, they own their house, always have nice stuff etc.

It took me a while to figure this out, but life isn’t a hundred-meter race against your friends, but a marathon against yourself.

Do not speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Words are energy and have power to cast spells. That why it’s called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.

It’s okay to not know. It’s okay to try a couple of things. It does not mean you’re giving up. It just means you have not found your thing yet.

Don’t compare and despair. You’ll figure it out.
